Events for Sunday December 27, 2009

Sunday December 27, 2009
02:00PM

The whole family is invited to a Spook Handy Folk Concert on Sunday, December 27 at 2:00 PM at the Highland Park Public Library located at 31 North Fifth Avenue. The concert is sponsored by The Friends of The Library and is free to the public.

For more information about this event go to www.hpplnj.org <http://www.hpplnj.org/> or call the library at 732-572-2750.

The songwriter and recording artist will perform his “Tales From the Road” concert – stories and songs about the people, places and experiences he’s happened upon in his travels throughout America. Be prepared to laugh, cry, open your heart and sing along.

Spook’s original tunes blend influences of blues, 60s and 70s pop, Appalachian strains, and blue grass into a cohesive contemporary sound that has gained him ample critical acclaim. And his introductory stories and stage banter capture the hearts and imagination of the audience.

His debut CD, /Freedom Is Your Destiny/, was named a top 10 album of the year by /The East Coast Rocker/. He has released four CDs and his latest, /Whatcha Gonna Do/ reached number 12 on the Folk Radio Charts. Pete Seeger sings a number of Spook’s original songs. His originals have also received dozens of award nominations and this tune “Vote” was the number 10 single on the Folk Radio Charts in October 2008.
